Cape Cod Art and Nature was born after my many wonderful years
of working with other people and other organizations. I grew up learning about nature and loving zoology but I chose to study
art, my other love and my degree is a BFA in Painting from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (1976). I became a certified
teacher in 1994 through the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth though I have actually been teaching since I was in high
school. (My high school independent study was titled "Creativity in Education in Barnstable Schools" and I "student
taught" with the local art teacher daily for 6 weeks as part of my project.)

I have taught drawing and painting for over 30 years to both children and adults and have worked
in most of the Cape art and environmental education centers over the years, starting back in 1979. In the mid 90s I found my way back to outdoor and environmental education
working with the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History. For several years I worked as
a full time naturalist/educator for the Green Briar Nature Center in East Sandwich. Between them all I have worked in every
elementary school on Cape Cod and in Plymouth as well as in many of the middle and high schools. I have also taught in
countless pre-school and home school programs. I love to teach, what can I say? Over the years I have also helped develop teacher workshops integrating
science teaching with the arts. In the last 9 years I have begun publishing my nature writing and illustrations
weekly and monthly in area newspapers.
